Menschenräume

Mensch ohne Raum ist nicht denkbar. Der erste Raum ein Bauch, dann vielleicht der Brutkasten, das Kinderbett, viele Räume das ganze Leben hindurch, private Räume, öffentliche Räume, Phantasieräume, zum Schluss der Sarg oder die Urne. Mensch schafft und begrenzt Räume.

Alles was man lebt und erlebt, auch die Phantasie, hat immer mit Raum zu tun. Raum ist fundamentale physische sowie philosophische Kategorie.

Zu diesem Thema suchen wir fotografische Beiträge, die in unterschiedlichsten Aspekten den Bezug des Menschen zum Raum/zu Räumen bearbeiten und dabei existentielle Aussagen zum Menschen finden, positive wie negative.

Neben klassischen Darstellungsweisen  experimentelle Techniken  erwünscht, das Medium Fotografie darf befragt, hinterfragt, erweitert und zum experimentellen Spiel benutzt werden. Entscheidend sind Intensität und Qualität der Arbeiten bezüglich ihrer emotionalen oder rationalen Aussagekraft.

Die Ausstellung „Menschenräume“ ist das dritte Projekt des Kunstvereins 68elf Köln, das auf einer Auseinandersetzung mit Edward Steichens Ausstellungsprojekt „The Family of Man“ gründet. Steichens humanistische Grundauffassung und sein Versuch, mit Fotografie eine Gesamtsicht auf die menschliche Existenz zu leisten, sind gedanklicher Hintergrund für unsere Konzeption.

Die Besonderheit unserer diesjährigen Präsentation: Alle jurierten Arbeiten werden ausschließlich als Beamerpräsentation gezeigt. Die Projektionsflächen befinden sich auf dem Kunstgelände Odonien, dem bekannten Kölner Veranstaltungsort des Künstlers Odo Rumpf. Wir werden auf zwei oder sogar drei großformatige Leinwände projizieren, umrahmt von der außergewöhnlichen Landschaft aus Zivilisationsschrott, Rostskulpturen und Autowracks, einem ganz besonderen „Menschenraum“.

Technische Erläuterung:

Die Bewerbungen können unter http://www.68elf.de/ausschreibungen/ hochgeladen werden. 

Dazu zählen eine Kurzbiografie und ein kurzer Infotext zu den Arbeiten, bitte mit Größenangabe in cm. 

Maximal fünf Arbeiten dürfen hochgeladen werden, sie sollen nicht mehr als 1000 Pixel auf der langen Seite haben. (Mit Photoshop oder anderem Bildbearbeitungsprogramm kleiner rechnen.) 

Als Dateiformat bitte nur JPG verwenden.

Humans‘ Space

A human without space is not conceivable. The first space the womb, then maybe the incubator, the cot, there are many spaces in someone’s whole life, private rooms, public rooms, imaginary rooms, in the end the coffin or the urn. Humans create and limit rooms.

Everything you live and experience, also the imagination, always deals with space. Space is a basic physical as well as a philosophical category.

For this subject, we are looking for photographic contributions which work on the relation of the human to space / to rooms in diverse aspects and find there existential statements to the human being, positive as well as negative ones.

Besides classical techniques and installations, experimental technologies are desired. The medium Photography maybe questioned, expanded and used for experimental play. Important are the intensity and quality of the works regarding to their emotional or rational meaningfulness.

The exhibition “Human’s Spaces“ is the third project of the art association 68elf, Cologne that is based on a discussion with Edward Steichen's exhibition project “The Family of Man“. Steichen’s understanding of humanism and his attempt to perform an overall view of the human existence with photography is the intellectual background of our concept.

What’s special about this year’s exhibition? The chosen works are going to be presented as a projector presentation. It will take place at an art area called “Odonien”, the well-known place of event created by the artist Odo Rumpf. We will be able to project the works on two or even three big screens, located in the extraordinary scene of civilization trash, rust sculptures a car wrecks – it is itself a very special place.

The event is part of the “International Photoscene 2016” which takes place at the same time as “photokina” and it will be advertised in their catalogue (analogue and digital) and on their website.
